Powers Home

The project was to build a large home on a very small lot on Lake Lanier in Georgia with a septic system. The house is finely detailed and decorated and the difficulty was to get this much home on a lot which barely had enough room for the home let alone a septic system with a replacement field as required by the state health department.

The home has a beautiful entry into a large two story living room with spectacular lake views. All major rooms have lake views. The roof over the living room is spanned with large timber trusses held with iron plates and a cyprus tongue and groove ceiling. The floors are old heart pine floors made from heart pine beams from an old mill building in South Carolina, complete with a revolutionary war miniball in one of the floorboards. The warmth of the floors walls and ceilings spreads through the whole home.

Basement bedrooms and spaces have the same warm feeling created by stone floors. Tile bathrooms in each terrace level bedroom have tile showers and granite countertops. Just outside the terrace level is a large hot tub overlooking the lake shore a short distance away. There is a bar and basement kitchen in the terrace level playroom.

The home has a state of the arts security system with cameras, cell phone access to smart house features. The mechanical features are name brand with all of the latest bells and whistles and the home has an elevator since it needed to be stacked to get this much house on so small a lot. The lot is spectacular with lake views out the front and rear of the home. The water system to the house can be shut off and on from the owner’s cell phone when he is at the airport. There are two laundry rooms, one on the terrace level and one in the master suite. There are five fireplaces, masonry fireplaces in the living room and play room and gas fireplaces on the screen porch, the study, and the master bedroom. All fireplaces and entry porches are covered with natural stonework. The home has an emergency generator that switches on automatically if there is a power outage.

The master bath has a heated tile floor, large double his and her vanities elevated Jacuzzi tub for views out to the lake, a large multiple headed shower with seats and a porthole to the lake view.

The master bedroom has a morning kitchen for a cup of coffee in the morning and a wine refrigerator for a glass of wine before bed.

The screen porch has a lake view across the sunken grilling deck, a fireplace as well as an enclosed TV for summer viewing.

The home was built to take advantage of the many fine lake views on this spectacular lot and has many features for comfort and security.
